About this campaign

The InTune Mother Project needs your help. Without proper education and support within the community, women of color face greater disparities than their white counterparts. By purchasing this straight to the pointT-shirt for $20 you can help change that. All funds go towards educating eligible women of color in her perspective field of study in birth work via "The Grand Challenge."

The InTune Mother Project (TIM)was founded in 2012 as a way for women, to connect and interact with childbirth professionals in a safe non judgmental environment. Last year in efforts tosupport #GivingTuesday 2013, we launched a "Beds and Breast-pumps" campaign in order to provide 50 new mothers, with safe sleep systems, and breast-pumps for those who desired to breastfeed. Now in 2014, our initial goal of bringing childbirth education and awareness to vulnerable communities has become a tangible reality.

With your support in this years #GivingTuesday campaign, The InTune Mother wants to support eligiblewomen of color with full, partial, and/ormatching
scholarshipsto purchase text books and/or enroll in perspective programs related to reducing disparities inchildbirth outcomes among women of color.

"Nationally, blacks have a four-times greater risk of pregnancy-related death than whites—a rate of 36.1 per 100,000 live births compared with 9.6 for whites and 8.5 for Hispanics, according to a 2008 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."

This iswhy purchasing this simple T-shirt that boldly says, "I Support Birth Workers Of Color" is instrumental to our mission to support community drivenorganizations such as"The Grand Challenge."This year TIM joined up with Claudia Booker,Jennie Joseph, and several others as a(Virtual) Perinatal Safe Spot or PSS. Bybecoming an Perinatal Ambassador as a part of theNational Perinatal Task Force,we are making this #GivingTuesday all about the (love) of positive childbirth outcomes.By mobilizing this important event on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 we cancollaborate in a professional andcollegiateway both locally and nationally, representingwho we are as Task Force members.

Being aware of the grave injustice of black babies dying at twice or three times the rate of white babies in America, and knowing that the disparity in maternal mortality between black women and white women is even wider in the USA, takes on dire urgency. For this reason we chose the color red, in respectfor the blood that has been shed, and for the grounding power of the base chakrah being brought into balance through supported, intuitive, empoweredchildbirth, along with the black heart ribbon of hope. We can make a difference by assisting women in these communities with education to support The Grand Challenge-- Together we can make a change this #GivingTuesday 2014.

The InTune Mother Project, is showing (love) on this coming #GivingTuesday 2014.
