Alyssa's Gift of Life!

Alyssa Needs Our Help!

We have wonderful news – Alyssa has received the gift of life – a double lung transplant after years of debilitating lung disease. But now that her health crisis is under control, her financial one is setting in. Alyssa needs our help with her transplant expenses.

Alyssa was born on December 15th, 1987. Alyssa Suffers from a genetic disorder called Cystic Fibrosis, which causes excess mucus to build up in the respiratory and digestive tracts. She spent her life in and out of the hospital with both respiratory and digestive issues, typical for someone with Cystic Fibrosis. In 2014 she suffered a complete bowel blockage that required emergency surgery causing irreversible decrease in her lung function. In the months following she suffered from six collapsed lungs that had to be surgically repaired, more than once. Finally the decision was made to have her evaluated for a double lung transplant. Thankfully, that lifesaving call came quickly on May 28th, 2015.

Alyssa is a soft spoken but passionate person with a fabulous sense of humor. She adores bunnies, Hello Kitty and Korean music and culture. She has traveling dreams and career goals of being a pharmacist. She is brave and always wants to try new adventures and foods. Alyssa’s favorite color is purple, which is also the Cystic Fibrosis ribbon color. She is simply a beautiful person, inside and out.

Alyssa is recovering well but after her release from the hospital, she will be required to live in Philadelphia, near the hospital for several months. She also faces a lifetime of very expensive anti-rejection medications to ensure that her body doesn’t fight her new lungs. Alyssa has beaten odds and accomplished so much in her battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Our hope is that her recovery will continue to go beautifully and she'll have a long, happy and HEALTHY life!

Alyssa is a wonderfully sweet, caring, and loyal friend who will go to the ends of the earth to help others. Now we have an opportunity to help her. Thank you!
