About this campaign

Sweet Ashlyn weighed 3 pounds and was born 9 weeks early! She recently had Brain surgery in hopes this will help her to walk unaided! Intensive therapy and more surgery may be needed!

Sweet Ashlyn and her twin sister, Allyssa were born at 31 weeks. She weighed 3 pounds at birth.Ashlyn and her sister were inthe NICU for 28 days. During this time she wasventilated and suffered a low grade brain bleed. She was not reaching the milestones that most children her age do. Through lots of doctors visits, testing, MRI's, CAT scans etc. They thought that she possible had a issue from her small brain bleed and just needed Physical Therapy to get those muscle to do their job. She hasdone tons of therapy. Weekly trips to Green Bay and other spots for appointments since she was itty bitty. Her mom and dad did research world wide to find someone, someplace that could do something for Ashlyn. In September of 2013 they finally for an appointment with a World Renowned Doctor to have SDR surgery. During all the testing prior to having the SGR surgery scheduled, the Doctors found a cyst in a Ventrical. On February 18th, Ashlyn had Brain surgery to have this cyst removed. She did well with surgery after a few very scary days!

Since the surgery, Super Trooper Ashlyn is improving every day. At this time she needs a lot of therapy just to maintain where she was at prior to surgery and to hopefully reach her goal of walking and running on her own. In one year they will check to see if she still would need the SDR surgery, which in its self as another story. That surgery is on the spine and has VERY INTENSE recovery. All of her family and friends are praying every day for this little spitfire of a girl that SDR will not be needed!

Action for Ashlyn was started by a College Friend of Ashlyns. Their parents are friends and neighbors. Steph has spent time with Ash and her siblings. Steph is a senior at UW Eau Claire, majoring in Special Education, Elementary Education and EBD. She ran her first half marathon in Eau Claire last May in honor of her Grandpa who passed away from pancreatic cancer. She is signed up for the Full Marathon on May 4, 2014 in Eau Claire WI and this year along with her Grandpa whos Fingerprint Cross necklace she wears everyday for support....she choose Ms Ashlyn to be the one she runs for! Hopefully one day soon she will be running across the finish line with Steph!!!!!

APRIL 17th - UPDATE Action for Ashlyn is still in the works! However we have had to change the run date as Steph has a knee injury. She is very disappointed. She has wore the cartlidge in her knee down and doctor has told her to take some time off. So what the plan is JUNE 7 THE WOLVERINE RUN in Crivitz will be the race! In honor of Ms. Ashlyn!!!! MAY 14th - UPDATE Only 8 hours left to order your shirts! Thanks EVERYONE!
