About this campaign

The moment we have all be waiting and praying for has arrived! Helen's kidney transplant is coming up next week!! A HUGE thank you to Lori for being Helen's hero! Throughout this, sometimes agonizing, journey Helen has been a beacon of light. Her love of life is incredible, proving over and over what a fighter she it. Helen continues to inspire me everyday.

With a lengthy recovery, lifelong kidney disease, and several transplants over her life, COTA in honor of Helen needs our support now for than ever. Let's show Helen our love by sporting "Team Helen" t-shirts! Order your official "Team Helen" shirt today.

Once you get your shirt take a selfie of you wearing your shirt and send it to COTAforHelenL@gmail.com. I will compile a photo book of Helen's supporters wearing their "Team Helen" shirts. This photo book will hopefully be a source of strength for Helen and Lauren during Helen's recovery.

For more information about Helen and her journey please visit, www.COTAforHelenL.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/COTAforHelenL.

Helen's Story
Right before Labor Day August 2013, little Helen who was 2.5 at the time, suffered from an E Coli infection. We still have no idea where Helen came into contact with E Coli. This infection developed into HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome) which severely damaged Helen’s kidneys. As a result of the HUS Helen has end-stage renal failure. Helen spent 60 days at OHSU to stabilize her condition as well as 9 months of daily peritoneal dialysis. Helen has end stage renal failure. To sustain her life, her team of doctors at OHSU have recommended that Helen receive a kidney transplant.

Despite needing a kidney transplant to sustain her life, Helen will have lifelong kidney disease. She will likely need multiple transplants over her life.

The family and I have teamed up with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), a national 501(c)3 charity, dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. Our goal is to raise $75,000 to help with transplant-related costs not covered by insurance. 100% of all funds raised are used for transplant-related expenses. COTA does not charge a fee or take a percentage of the funds raised.

Help make a miracle for children like Helen! For more information, or to donate today, please visit www.COTAforHelenL.com
