About this campaign

Please help a History teacher in getting 33 Chromebooks to help with new changing technology demands of common core curriculum.  Not to sure what a Chromebook is please click on the link to find out more information. https://www.google.com/chrome/devices/chromebooks.html

Hello my name is Frank Bunten, I am a History teacher in Norwalk, California who is trying to implement a digital curriculum in my U.S. History classroom. I need to fundraise to get 33 Chromebooks to help my students achieve success with the new common core curriculum regarding technology. Common Core standards like "Demonstrate the ability to use technology for research, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation" are standards that need students to have computers in their hands everyday. Currently our school has 64 Chromebook to share among three grade levels of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I am looking to help my 8th graders fill a much needed technology gap by placing a computer in their hand every day. I would like to build a digital classroom for my students.  A digital classroom is a classroom where every student works on a computer to complete all assignments, projects, exams, and all activity through many different free web base program including Google classroom. What is Google classroom you ask, well Google website explains it as a;

"Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly,  The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review, and grade assignments quickly, all in one place. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized. Students can keep track of what's due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom. Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Since students can post to the stream, they can help out their classmates."

The one problem with the free web based platforms like Google classroom is that it only really works if students have technology in their hands every day. Currently with the school only having 64 Chromebooks to share getting them in the hands of students is hard on a daily basis. I need your help in getting 33 Chromebooks for my 8th graders.

I thank you for taking the time in reading and thinking about helping me and my students out.

Peace and Love Mr. Bunten
